Reliance (RCom) and HDFC launch MPay mobile credit card

Reliance communication and HDFC bank have just launched India’s first mobile credit card “MPay”. The system uses a mobile phone to make payments instead of the standard credit card that is physically swiped.

The system is secure says HDFC, even if a customer were to loose his/her phone, the credit card account cannot be misused because it is protected by a PIN number. The offer is open to all HDFC credit card customers who have Reliance mobile connections. This system has been tried in other countries like Philippines and Japan with good success. It is not going to be long before other banks and mobile operators introduce similar credit cards.
