Axis Bank launches India’s first (EMV) chip based credit card

 Its finally here, India’s first chip based credit card from Axis Bank. Based on the EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) standard the visa platinum credit card from Axis Bank uses the latest chip based technology to store the credit card holder information in an encrypted format.

Chip based card are widely used in the US and other counties and its time that Indian banks introduced it too. The credit card offers a higher level of security when compares to the magnetic strip cards which we are used to in India. The new Chip and Pin based card or EMV card as it’s called, stores all the credit card holders’ information in an encrypted format and works when validated with a PIN. 

Axis Bank is offering this credit card in its Visa Platinum version. Subscribers will be offered a wrist watch from Esprit and complimentary round trip (return) tickets to a destination in Asia. The credit card also offers a 2.5% waiver on fuel along with 2.5% cash back on fuel expenses. Other features include a rewards program, comprehensive insurance, airport lounge access, shopping deals and more.
